Career Coach & Founder

Meet erica

Hi, I’m Erica! I’m the professional career coach and founder behind Fire Career Coaching. I help clients become top candidates in their respective fire recruitment processes.

I started my career as a coach for Master of Management students at the UBC Sauder School of Business. I give clients the same level of service they’d expect from a top-tier business school.

As a coach, I value being approachable and accessible to my clients. I provide high-touch support, and I’m available on an ongoing basis to answer questions and provide feedback throughout the recruitment process.

Be the top candidate.

Being at the top of competitive processes is what I’m great at, and I teach my clients how to achieve the same results.

I’ve won highly competitive scholarships like the Loran Award, which only selects 36 recipients from across Canada through a rigorous interview process. In 2022, only 0.7% of applicants won a Loran Award. For comparison, the Harvard admission rate for the class of 2026 is 3.2%.

I’ve also been selected for prestigious opportunities, like the Next 36, a national business program that selects only 36 young entrepreneurs through an exhaustive search process that includes interviews and culture-fit assessments.

I’ve designed Fire Career Coaching’s resources and one-on-one coaching for individuals who are highly motivated to obtain the same level of success in their own recruitment processes.

BE prepared for how the fire service has changed.

I started Fire Career Coaching after noticing that the type of candidates the fire service is looking for has changed in recent years. Today, the fire service is looking for candidates that can talk about their skills in cross-cultural communication and can work with the diverse communities that they serve. To be competitive, candidates need to be able to demonstrate their ability to be inclusive and respectful of others.

Answering interview questions related to equity, diversity, and inclusion can be hard. I help my clients understand what these questions are designed to look for and how to be prepared to give thoughtful answers.

My clients are well-prepared for this part of the interview because I’m well-versed in these topics. My post-secondary education is in Indigenous studies and I’m a trained justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion workshop facilitator.
